Gran’s Crumpets, originally uploaded by poachedpenguinsontoast.

The crumpet of all crumpets.

My gran is the king of crumpetry. Pictured is one of her latest batch, accompanied by a cup of Tetley tea. Nice.

I asked her if it had butter on it and she said,

“Aye! only a scrape”
“Gran, a scape?! It’s coating my arteries as I speak!”
“Aye, but it’s that light stuff”

To all who don’t know much about crumpets, this is a Scottish Crumpet – Wikipedia says it all.

It is usually enjoyed with a smear of butter AND jam with a cup of tea . To die for.

Eaten by Jo.
